David Wade biography (b. 1911, Minden, La.; d. May 11, 1990) reached the rank of lieutenant general and assumed command of SAC's Second Air Force, Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana on August 1, 1963. Paul DeWitt Adams (1906-1987), born in Heflin, Alabama, was commissioned to the infantry from West Point in 1928. He served with the 34th Infantry and 8th Infantry Division. He served also as Executive Officer of 1st Special Service Force, the commanding officer of the 143rd Infantry, and then rose to the rank of Brigadier General in March 1945. Howard Austin Yeager was born September 9, 1905, in Chapman, Kansas. He received his commission as Ensign in the U.S. Navy in 1927, and advanced to the rank of vice admiral in 1960.
